A Life in Photos: Flesh and Blood

So many people define family as "flesh and blood". While I am so blessed to have my own family, my "flesh and blood", I also have a family that I don't share any DNA with.

My best friend, Jean, and I go back many years. In fact, we met because our mother's were good friends. I grew up in Omaha with my parents and 7 siblings, that was it! The closest relative, not in my immediate family, was in Minneapolis. Therefore, I did not have the luxury of growing up with Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins near. Jean had just the opposite experience. Most every relative she has lived in Omaha. Needless to say, they are a very close crew and I am SO BLESSED to have been accepted into this crew with open arms.

Along with a few bonus Siblings, Nieces & Nephews, I now have Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins right here in Omaha :)

Jean lost her Mom in April and her Grandmother (Mom's Mom) just 3 weeks later. Both women were cremated and finally laid to rest yesterday. The following shots were taken at the ceremony to honor Grandma Mae and Nina. The tributes to these two women were just amazing and really captured their unique personalities.

God bless you Nina and Mae! Thank you for sharing your lives with me and always making me feel like a member of your wonderful family! You are missed!!
